LALSA's Mentor Program
LALSA’S mentor program pairs upperclassmen with 1L’s to ensure that they have support as they navigate their first year of law school at Penn and settle into life in Philadelphia. Mentors offer academic advice, meet with their 1L mentees throughout the year, and help build relationships between classes.
As a mentee, I was unsure of what I needed and wanted to know from my mentor. However, by bouncing different topics and thoughts with them I was able to learn so much and make a new friend! Talking with my mentor was a great way to get a different perspective from a student that had already gone through the challenges I was facing as a 1L." |
“The LALSA mentor program gave me an invaluable experience by connecting me with my mentor, Michelle. Because we had a similar background as Hispanic women from Miami, I felt Michelle understood what I was going through when not many people could. She was always there for me—whether it was to answer my millions of law-school related questions or to eat copious amounts of pasta—and I am so incredibly thankful for her and LALSA for pairing us together!”

Being a LALSA mentee as a 1L really helped me feel more comfortable, and less anxious, during my first few months at Penn. Having my mentor (s/o Trini) there to give me whatever kind of advice I needed, or to just listen to how I was feeling, really helped me feel more at home at Penn Law." |
